Dad

Update on Dad- he's doing really well. He was moved to a regular room and out of the CCU today. They cut him loose of most of his medical contraptions that were tying him down so he's up and about. He had lots of visitors today so he got to tell his dramatic story over and over again. He is feeling really well and in great spirits. He's looking forward to going home on Monday hopefully.

After Dad's heart cath on Friday, Mom & I helped get him settled back into his room. Erin returned so Mom & I left to get Mom some food and go by Dad's office for a few things (not work related!). While we were gone, the nurses sent Erin to the waiting room so they could remove his catheter. The catheter was in a main artery so the nurse has to apply tremendous pressure to get it to clot since they had given Dad so many blood thinners, etc. While she's applying the pressure, my Dad looks up and sees his blood pressure is like 89 over 50 and the numbers are red. About that time, he tells her that he doesn't feel to well. Then he's gone. She tries to use the call button but of course his aren't working. She starts yelling for this medicine that will help but she can't move because the blood hadn't clotted yet. Finally she had to call Code 500 which had the doctors and nurses come running from the ICU, through the waiting room where Erin is sitting and into the CCU. Dad comes to with about 8 nurses all over him- one on him doing compressions. He asked them where they all came from. Evidently his heart stopped for about 30 seconds but he came right back.

Today he was moved to his regular room and at one point asked the nurse about removing all this tape he had on him .She kept talking about how much tape there was and how it was way too much. He explained how they had put it on when he crashed yesterday. She stopped and stared at him and said, "That was YOU? Oh we've heard about you."

Dad tends to make a name for himself wherever he goes. I guess we should have expected it.

Thanks for all your prayers and support. You guys are great.

I'm glad that your dad can take it all in stride even while in the hospital. That makes for a better patient and quicker recovery, I imagine. Still praying for him.

Doesn't surprise me that he is joking around with the hospital staff. Praying for you, him, and your entire family.

Goodness gracious - and yet, would you really expect anything less from Frank? I'm glad he's doing well, and I'm sure the nurses, families, and other patients that he's come in contact with have appreciated the comic relief he brings everywhere he goes.
