Names

First off I wanted to share Kiran's prayer from the other afternoon.

"Thank you for my brothers I want one more sister Amen."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We've been trying to pick out names. We don't usually finalize names until after the baby is here but we thought it would be nice to pray for them by name and that it would be easier than Baby A, Baby B, Twin A, Twin B, etc. So...do you have any name suggestions? Andrea actually found Kiran's name for us so I know this is not a futile exercise. Let me tell you our rules
1. No matchy-matchy names
2. No rhyming
3. Not start with the same letter- I'd prefer they not start with a K or an S either but I will bend this part of the rule if we fall in love with a name

That's all. Thanks!

OK, I'm going to have to think on this one :)

Bennett-Blessed
Caden- has no meaning
Wyatt- Brave, strong
Liam - will, desire and helmet
Silas- of the forest

Just a few... I think it is a wonderful idea to name them now so that you and all of us can pray for them by name!

I like Liam. It's the last 4 letters of William, which I know is a special name for ya'll! Wyatt, however, scares me because of a kid I had in class last year. If you really love it, I won't tell you the stories about him. Joys of teaching! I like Cullen, but it's similar to Kiran. Yeah, Liam and Cullen are my choices for now - Liam for Baby A, Cullen for Baby B. Why is it easier for me to name your children than my own? I'll trade you two boy names for one girl name!

Changed my mind. Hunter and Harley.

Can't wait to see what names you guys choose - know they will be just as perfect for your sons as they were for your daughters!

can't wait to hear. I'm sure they will be special and have a great meaning. I was thinking just yesterday how I would like to pray for them by name so from A & B I have been calling them al and bert sorry but I had to do something. :) I love you!

I'm with Lauren and Erin - Liam is very classy, especially if William is a family name. I didn't even know that Liam was a nickname for William until my sister told me her son would be named William John (he'll be the fourth, so she really doesn't have a choice) and will go by Liam. But that baby is still hypothetical so you can use it too.

And I also like the name Silas. I think Lauren and I just have similar taste in names (except Caden, too trendy for me). :)

Andrew (Drew)
Frank (seriously, I really like that name, even though it's not really typcial for this generation)
James

And if you want to do KIND OF matchy names (but not "matchy-matchy"... is that the official term, btw?) then you could put a similar sound in their names so they coordinate but don't match. I taught swim lessons to twins named Matthew and Nathan, both with that TH in the middle, and I liked that their names fit each other but didn't really match. You know?

Boys names are hard for me, though.

mark also votes for Dabo. :)

and should point out that the little boy in Nathan's class named Frank is VERY sweet to his mother. :)

I can't believe I'm doing this! Ha!

But, I like Ezekiel, in this situation because I read it means, "God will strengthen." Maybe for Baby A.

we're praying for you guys and the boys.

Kiran suggests Diego and Whyatt (spelling intentional).

I like what Brandy said about Ezekial's meaning. We're big on meaning and love Hebrew names for that reason--full of it! Its a big name for a little guy, but I think Zeke is a really cute nickname. I like Levi for a boy, but we know several so wouldn't use it ourselves. We have a hard time with boy names--we're needing ideas ourselves in case our little one is a boy but no success thus far!

Sara Beth said...

I know a girl Caden so I wouldn't use it for a boy--but you guys probably wouldn't use it because it would be Caden Caskey and have that alliteration thing right?

Andrew would have been high on our list had we not had a nephew with that name. And we also liked Liam as a nickname for William. I like my other nephew's name: Jace. And Eli. Cole and Blake were two of my fave students last year. And Garrett. It's fun that you get to pick two names!

You know I have a BILLION opinions. :)

(these were all said with preceding Caskey, fyi :)

Austin
Gabe
Lucas
Kai (it's Hawaiian. Just in case ;)
Wyatt
Eli(jah)
Logan
Ben(jamin)
Sam(uel)
Jared

I'm looking forward to hearing what y'all choose!

Ohhh I like Liam and Fitz now.

I have LOVED reading all the suggestions. I thinkw e are getting close to their names- I'm excited to share them. Once we figure out for sure what they are.

We have nephews named William, Brody and Jay so those names are out. Sorry :(

I thought about Mr. Darcy last night bc someone mentioned Fitz as a name...his name was Fitzgerald Darcy.

Julia said...

Carl and Craig! Guaranteed to be bald.
Kidding.

I like Liam.

Emily said...

What about John and Nathan? Or is that too cutesy? I also like Thomas, Timothy, and Jerry (after Gerald) (but not Thomas and Jerry together!:) Anyway, my suggestions are probably a little out there. :)

Erin G said...

you know what, emily, I was just thinking that pretty much ALL of these suggestion aren't "out there" ENOUGH for the caskey family!

Their two daughters each have names that are pretty likely to be the ONLY one in their class. (At least if they stay in America.) But I don't think any of the boy names suggested so far, except maybe Kai or Wyatt or Fitz, would have that distinction. I bet when they have the big reveal, the names will be far more unusual than what we've been suggesting. Just my hunch. :)

I'm partial to Will and John, but you know...

I like Liam and Silas together...a LOT. I think both of them sound good with Caskey, PLUS, they are similar names but not cutesy. We were the same way - no matching, rhyming, etc. We didn't tell anyone the boys' names until they were born.

I honestly don't like a lot of the more trendy names lately - Caden, Wyatt, Brady, etc. But, that's just me. :)
