Hawaii Here We Come

Jonathan bought our tickets to Hawaii!! We are going to Kauai next July. We used our frequent flier miles so each ticket cost us $15. I'm so excited to be going on a trip to one of the most beautiful places on earth with my husband and only my husband! We are leaving the kids with their grandparents and are looking forward to traveling without young children. I figure it will take me half the trip to relax and get out of mom mode. Any suggestions for things to do in Hawaii? We are hoping to make this a trip to remember!

I have one thing for you NOT to do in Hawaii and that is go to the Hawaiian culture center. It was an awful wasted day of our trip to Hawaii. Which island are you going to?

Which island are you going to? I am in agreement with Lauren--do not go to the cultural center. We have been to The Big Island, Maui, Oahu and Maui is by far my favorite. And oh...by the way--your kids are adorable!

Awesome!!! I've never been to Kaua'i before but I had some friends from there and they said it's just beautiful :)

FYI - The Movie - Jurassic Park did a lot of their filming at Blue Hole in Kaua'i. You know at the begining of the movie when they fly in and it's beautiful?? Yup, that's where you're going!! You should rent and watch Jurassic Park again - it will get you really excited about going :)

I'd recommend doing a helicoptor tour over the area from Jurassic Park, they have a bunch that do that and I've heard it's awesome ;)

We are going to Kauai. We've heard really good things about it- its beautiful, its wonderful but nothing really specific to make sure not to miss. We are planning to go to Oahu for a day trip and see Pearl Harbor. We are saving our pennies hoping to have enough to do a helicopter tour. Why not? When will I get to go back to Hawaii???

Hi Gina! Please ask Jacob & Trish- I'm sure they will have some good suggestions!

Make a baby. And then name her Hawaii...or Kauai. Or just take that helicopter ride, I've never been!

Isn't there some really pretty highway on Kauai that's cool to rent a car and drive all along it?

We're doing the same thing for our trip to Italy in May! Frequent Flier miles and just us!

erin I love how you assume that any baby we make is going to be of the female variety.

Sb- How fun! Where did you decide to go in Italy??? So you'll be leaving your baby at just over a year too?

i'll look at all our stuff and then email you. it'll be too much to put in one blog comment. i will say it was (to us) the prettiest island. you're very secluded there and it's the best place to just relax. i'll also let you know a few things to do on your day on oahu.

SO are you taking extra luggage for all of the books you will be reading?? I mean all you need is a bathing suit and a few changes of clothes! You are a great "vacation" person...so I'm sure that you 2 will find lots to do! Can't wait to hear all about it. So do we get the girls for a "Sleepover night"?? It can kinda be like Camp Caskey?????

yaaaaay! hope you get her weaned. it didn't so much work for nathan and me after all.

beth e you are the best. I can't wait to hear suggestions from someone who lived there. Did you go to all the major islands? Relaxing is exactly what I'm looking for- and surrounded by natural beauty. It just does something for my soul you know?

Beth c- you can def have Camp Caskey! I'm sure the girls will love it!

Erin g- I can't believe you still have milk after being gone for so long! Sorry it didn't work (if that was what you wanted!).

I was going to be ok either way, so I'm fine with the occasional nursing. I'm following the advice of the AAP and going as long as it's "mutually desired." when I'm done, he's done, and I won't apologize about it. :)

also, I pumped when I was in nyc, on days when the pressure got to be too much (I think three times over the week). Even *I* don't have THAT much milk!

Go parasailing! And snorkeling! How long will you be there?

Kelley C said...

About a week. Parasailing huh? Have you been parasailing?

merritt said...

I LOVE parasailing! I've done it every time we were in HI. That was in Oahu, but I'm sure you could find a place in Kauai.

every time we were in HI....nice

Sorry...I didn't mean for it to sound that way. But you are going to the island I've wanted to see.
