As I was writing the date this morning, I paused thinking this date seems so familiar. My mom's birthday is the 23rd so that wasn't it. Jonathan's grandmother's birthday is also the 23rd. What was it?
Oh yeah....that's our dating anniversary. We haven't really celebrated it since we got married. Heck most of our celebrating before marriage took place at various basketball games. But today.... today its been 10 years since we became a couple. A Decade. We were 16 years old, juniors in high school, and we had just spent the previous 7 months convincing everyone at school that we weren't dating- we were just best friends. Ha.
I remember Feb 22, 1998. It was a Sunday and we were studying. We had 5 out of 6 classes together that year. Nothing spectacular happened at all; things just changed between us. We both realized (ok I realized) that this was more than a friendship. I think its good that I couldn't see the next ten years at that point. I don't think I would have been as patient letting things work out as they did if I had known what the next years had in store for us. Perhaps it would have scared off 16-year-old me. Thankfully, we get to take life one step at a time- boyfriend/girlfriend, engagement, married life, married life in another state, married life in another country, parenthood.
The years have been good to us. God has been good. More importantly, God has been faithful. I have never seen His faithfulness as much as I do now. I have never depended on His faithfulness as I do now.
Here's to 10 years!

You two have a fun love story. Happy Dating Anniversary!
Cute pic of Kiran...I usually read on bloglines and miss stuff like that. Anyway, your story is so cute. Happy anniversary! I miss you guys... Oh, and I LOVE that you voted for AI...maybe I'll do it next week.
how funny. that was about 4 months before i graduated but i thought you guys had been dating for a lot longer. i guess i was one of those people that didn't believe you were just best friends. hehe!
jared and i are getting married on the same day as our dating anniversary...although there is some question of when our dating relationship actually began...anyway, i can't wait to look back years from now and marvel over how everything happened. btw, you have another chance to name one of your children after me. woohoo!
I can't believe its been ten years! That means Clinton was 12 years ago?! What? BTW, I found a note you wrote me in the spring of '96 talking about how your parents were going to let you go to Mexico and how JKL would have to do everything together- room together, have the same parts in the play, etc. It cracked me up!
That's so fun!
B and I had our 10 year dating anniversary in January. Sure does seem like a long time. Yet, it has flown by.
Thanks Mert!
Em- you should totally vote next week for AI. Who will you vote for???
Beth- that is really funny that you thought we were dating longer. We were just friends....
julie- i had no idea you guys were getting married on your anniversary! I got your wedding invite- its so Julie and I LOVE it!!!
jenn- i think you need to burn all letters I wrote before I was 18. Scary. You know what is strange? My college roommates and I were JKLM.
Miriam- we started dating at almost the same time!!! How fun! You guys have been married much longer though.
So excited for you guys with your coming GIRL! Will be great for Kiran to have a sister so close in age. Loved catching up with you guys after some weeks on the road - miss you! :)
