Sienna weighs 14lbs 2 oz and is 24 inches long. She's my little average baby. As the doctor listed off the things that he wanted her to be able to do by her next visit- sit mostly by herself, move (roll or scoot) to get objects that are out of reach, transfer things between hands- I realized that she's not going to be a little baby much longer at all! She's preparing to take off and I'm not sure I'm ready. I love having my little teeny baby...

4 Months Old
Sienna turned 4 months old yesterday. I realized that I took pictures of Kiran on the 7th of every month yet I hadn't recorded any of Sienna's month birthdays with a photo shoot. Second child syndrome anyone? So I pulled out Kiran's chair to try to get a good shot of Sienna at 4 months today.
I wasn't particularly pleased with any of these- the few I got before she face planted. But at least I have photographic proof that I care.

Her doctor and I decided that she probably does have a cow's milk protein intolerance. The good news is that most kids outgrow this. The bad news is that most kids don't outgrow it until 12-15 months old! That's a long time without dairy!!! He said some babies do outgrow it earlier but the only way to know is to try dairy. He recommended trying every 2-3 months to see how she handles it. I haven't had dairy since I accidentally ate a piece of cheese on Sept 19 so I think its about time to try. And I'm going to try with one of Chick-Fil-A's new chocolate chip peppermint milkshakes!!!

Yummy that sounds like a good thing to try it out on! Jordan doesn't seem to have as bad of an intolerance to dairy as Sienna does but it still upsets her when I eat it or tomatoes. What I have experimented with is allowing a few hours after I eat something with dairy and tomatoes before nursing Jordan-- I have frozen milk that I use when her feeding comes before I'm ready to nurse her. I know some places say things could pass through as early as 2 hours but I wait 4 hours to be safe. Of course I'm just desperate since we only have 2 months left in the States!
Glad you got some 4 month pictures of her! She's a cutie!
haha Way to aim big on the dairy trial! :)
Yummy! Go for that milkshake!!
'She's so cute in those pictures! Awesome!
I can't believe how much she has changed.
And those milkshakes are super yummy!! I can't wait to get another one!! Probably this weekend since they were out of the free ones (well, that would be all milkshakes)on election day!
ew, that milkshake doesn't sound so hot, honestly. not much of a peppermint person.
my doc said the same thing at nathan's 4-month checkup. We just laughed and laughed. and then he sat up at 7 months and rolled at 8. oh well. :)
don't say stuff like that about second child syndrome - it's what I'm scared of!!! way to go kelley you used to be the glimmer of hope in my "getting ready" and now you have made me second-guess everything all over again. I don't need any new Issues.
Just kidding (mostly), you're a great mom and seeing how you handle everything with such nonchalance and humor really is inspiring to me.
Sara- has that worked? The waiting 4 hours? Because that would be awesome.
Erin-the fact that you are aware of the second child syndrome is half the battle. See I never got professional pictures taken of Kiran so that my other children couldn't complain that I got professional pictures taken of her and not of them.
Kelley,
Yes it has worked for us. Like I said maybe waiting 4 hours is a little long -- maybe less would be ok, but if you can prevent a baby from being fussy then it's worth it! I was most nervous on things like pizza sauce but she seemed to be ok. Today for lunch we had breakfast and I had gravy, cheese and put cream in my coffee and she was ok the next time I nursed her.
I hope you are able to figure out what is making Sienna wake up so much! No fun at all!
Sara- I've had hot chocolate at night after I put her to bed..... and I haven't had any problems! I'm thinking I might try something tomatoey for dinner after she goes down at 6:30 since she doesn't eat again till like 2:30am. I hope it works!!!!
