1. Mommies of girls- bangs or no bangs? And if you chose to grow those bangs out, how did you survive?
2. Did anyone have a bumbo seat? Did you like it? Does anyone have one sitting around that they aren't using that we could try?
3. Potty training??? Oh my. I'm so not ready but I think I need to start thinking about it. Or something. Anything that worked for you???
4. Anyone have an infant Halloween costume? I'm having a hard time spending money on something Sienna will wear for like an hour and have no memory of. Its really just for the pictures.

1.We chose no bangs, but we have the short whispy? hairs that sorta look like bangs. I have heard it's rough trying to grow them out.
2.No.
3.See your email.
4.We borrowed one for the same reason, granted she was 9 months, not a teeny thing.
bumbo=GREAT! Jay loves it!
Hair would be cute either way! I know lots of mommies that let the hair grow our and WHEWWW they really had a time with bows and things.....
1. no clue on bangs.
2. we have bumbo, let me know if you want to borrow.
3. have costume RM wore last Halloween from L.Buczkowski... he was about 13lbs at the time... it's a "hot dog" suit. hilarious. welcome to it.
1. I say No. I've always heard that if you cut them, it's a booger to try and let them grow back out. Just tough it out until it gets long enough for "doggie ears."
2. We bought one for theEdge and the accompanying tray. He loves it.

4. theEdge is wearing the one T$ wore a few years ago. Check consignment stores for cheap ones, maybe?
Maybe we'll see you tonight on the mall. Or at the game tomorrow.
I'll have my people call your people... :)
1. No bangs so far for Kayla. I think part of it is what looks good on that kid. Kayla has a terrible cowlick in the front so bangs would be a nightmare. That and the whole growing them out thing if you change your mind - her hair grows so slowly!
2. Saw a post on Jacob and Sara's about Jordan enjoying one - look cute but never tried it with ours.
3. Waiting til they show interest is key I think. Can talk it up some before that to get them interested but if try to start before they really interested will end up drawing out the process FOREVER. Once they are interested, lots of liquids and LOTS of potty trips "just to try". When they got tired of potty trips, we had 1 reward for "trying" (sitting on the toilet for a couple mins) and another for success. Takes a lot of work and a lot of mess, but is worth it! :)
4. Sorry can't help you with the halloween costumes, but I bet if you google "make your own costume", you could come up with some cheap easy to make options.
a hot dog??? Seriously. That is hilarious. Evelyn you will be getting a visit from me. I'll borrow the bumbo too if that's ok.
1. Uh... we have no hair... but i had bangs as a kid and they always looked bad and when they were cut they were always too short (or they were too long) and then I decided to grow them out in middle school and lets just say that I had a rough couple of years :)
2. Nope... sorry, but they look cool :)
3. well, we're doing the indian style potty training... Aashini goes on the potty, but doesn't hold it yet ;)
4. check the 2nd hand stores or goodwill... we got one for aashini for $3 :)
2. FYI-My no was I didn't have one. :)
3. M&Ms were a great reward for successes. I forgot to mention that. Who doesn't like chocolate?
1. I think either way is cute, but I'd go no bangs with Zion if she had hair.
2. I haven't had a bumbo but kind of wish I did with Isaac--he still doesn't sit up and maybe that would help.
3. Potty training Micah was up and down--like someone said, them showing interest is key (Zion is starting to!). I would put Micah in big boy underwear when I first started. He would wet him about 2-3 times throughout the day, but he didn't like the wet underwear. After 3-5 days, if he was still wetting the underwear a lot then we'd go back to diapers and I'd try again with the underwear a few weeks later. When he was about 2 and 2 months, it just clicked when we tried the underwear. We gave little stickers for peeing in the potty and gummies for pooping. He's now more than 3 and still wants gummies if he poops, but hey, that's fine by me!
4. I found little hats and masks at Ikea for cheap (see our blog).
Oh yeah, if you're doing the underwear thing, just make sure they are sitting on towels or plastic bags!! Or maybe use the little vinyl pants like you'd put over some cloth diapers!
1. No bangs - just pull the front part of the hair into a little pony tail on top.
2. No bumbo but I've heard great things about it.
3. It's easier to potty train in South Asia with marble floors...just roll up the rugs for a couple weeks :) I'm not sure what to do on carpeted floors, but we just loaded the "trainee" up on liquids and took her to the potty every 10-15 minutes letting her wear big girl panties for about a week and cleaned up any accidents, saying, "Uh-oh, where is your pee pee/poopy supposed to go? In the potty!" and praise, praise, praise when they get it right. It also helps to let the "trainee" watch other kids using the potty. I "started" potty training several months before I actually got serious with it (loading the kid up on liquids and taking her every 15 minutes). I think introducing it now would be ok if you aren't ready to get serious. Asha has been pooping on the potty since before she was 1 with maybe only a dozen dirty diapers over the past 10 months (mostly during naps when I didn't hear her crying). It's really about training the parents at first. Check out www.betterforbabies.com for some cute cloth training pants.
4. Here's an easy tutorial for a no-sew tutu - http://kiddley.com/2007/02/06/no-sew-tutu/
If you wait old navy's costumes will go on sale to like $5. I got my friend one last year for her infant.
1. Bangs are cute.
2. LOVE the bumbo. Hazel sits in it while I feed her, anywhere! The counter while I unload dishes, a table in Starbucks while I talk to my friends, etc. :)
3. I'm no doctor, but it seems that if you wait until a child shows interest, you'll be waiting until they're 3 years old. America potty trains WAY later than most other countries, so I think we're doing it wrong. BUT I haven't fully potty trained a child yet, either, so I'm speaking without experience. However, Hazel has been going on the potty since she was 6 months old. So the hope is that when she's old enough to walk/talk, she'll do it on her own. She's not scared of sitting on it like other toddlers I know, which I think is the hardest part from what I've seen.
1. I'm for no bangs--just opinion
2. we liked ours, but used it less and shorter than I thought. it's not an important thing for a next child
3. we started potty training at 2.5yrs with our first child since we were returning from overseas--waited for big things and transition to be over. she did it in a snap. lots is personality. we also did it the same time we did big girl bed and that made lots of things easier cause we taught her to get out of bed to potty right away. if they are in the crib, you either have to rush and get them when they wake up or teach them just to go on themselves while they wait on you (or crawl out of crib). it worked for us...is a little late, but lots of circumstances made that best for us. we also had 3 children under 3, so having a baby in diapers is the easy way out while you're worrying for another infant. I think I'll do the same with our 2nd son.
I say go for some side bangs and swoosh it with some hairspray...that wouldn't be hard at all....
i have a pumpkin that miller wore. he would have been about a month older than sienna but he's a little one so she might fit. i'd want it back but you can borrow if you'd like. just email me and i'll mail it to you. go back to october of 2006 on my blog and you can see it.
My opinions:
1) I hope to not do bangs, so that I don't have to go through the grow-out phase, but we don't have hair yet so I don't know.
2)Loved the bumbo
3)Don't know about the potty training thing.
4) I have a butterfly costume but it may be a little big. I think it is a 6 months size. Let me know if you want to use it. It is way cute and definitely warm.
