Dang it.

Well dang it. I failed my 1-hr glucose test. You have to drink this sugary stuff and then they check your blood sugar one hour later. To pass it has to be BELOW 140. Of course mine was....you guessed it....140. So now I get to go next week and sit in their office for 3 hours and get my blood sugar checked every hour. So. Much. Fun.

So my question is what is a REALLY good novel you have read lately? I mean Couldn't-Put-It-Down novel. I was in the office for 2.5 hours today and I read John Grishim's Playing for Pizza. It was ok but not exactly thrilling. I'm just going to consider this a short reading vacation that happens to be in the waiting room of my OB.

On the good side, I got to see Baby Girl Caskey today for my ultrasound. I will have one every 3 weeks to monitor growth because some babies whose mommy has Factor V don't grow enough. But Baby Girl is measuring 50th percentile for everything which is fantastic. She was head down with her legs stretched out and she kept punching the ultrasound technician.

I don't envy you. I failed my 1 hour with Micah and had to do the 3 hour too. No fun. Your blood gets drawn 4 times. Yuck. I've never heard of Grisham's Playing for Pizza. Is it a short novel like Skipping Christmas? I am ready River Town right now, but I wouldn't say its one that just hooks you, unfortunately!

Okay I read cheesy things. But I'll tell you anyway...
"On the Street Where You Live" by Mary Higgins Clark
and the Mark of the Lion series by Francine Rivers. Those are the last couldn't-put-it-down books I read.
Sorry about the fasting glucose blood test stuff. I hated that. Don't they know how hard it is on a pregnant woman to not eat?!

That stinks about the gluclose... blah!

OK, so 2 books I've read recently that have been awesome...

The Camel Club - David Baldacci
The Collectors - David Baldacci

(you have to read them in order)
They're really good!

He also has 3 newer books that are supposed to be really good that I haven't read...
Simple Genius
Stone Cold
The Whole Truth (this one just recently came out I think)

OK, tha'ts all I have :)

The 3 hour glucose test isn't fun at all!! When I was pregnant with Keely my Chiang Mai doctor didn't do the shorter one because she was just convinced I was ok. But in Bangkok they wanted it on record and since I was 37 weeks they just went ahead and did the 3 hour...sooo horrible! So, good luck!

To go along with Andrea's recommendations, I'm reading Split Second by David Baldacci, which has made me read instead of nap during nap time!

WEll thats no fun! Maybe you could take a journal and write a letter to Baby Girl..tell her all the things that are going on in your world!

2 books - The Summons by Grisham and Let Them Eat Cake by Sandra Byrd. Both are great!

Glad the baby is growing, sorry you have 3 hours in the waiting room.

you could do the whole narnia thing again, in anticpation of the new movie. I bet you could tear through at least three of those in three hours.

I just read Prince of Tides - finally - and it was excellent. Disturbing in some ways, but a good book. I assume you've already read that, though, like every good southerner.

I am sure you have read this, but Redeeming Love is one you can't put down. I like Beth's idea too.

These days, I'm all about Dorothea Benton Frank. All of her stuff is set in the Charleston area (Isle of Palms, Pawley's Island, Shem Creek, etc.) and all of her characters are great. Two thumbs up.

Learn to knit. I have a little bag in my car with a scarf in it. I knit on it everytime I go to the dentist, doc or anywhere that I have to wait. It's fun.

Thanks- you guys had some great ideas and suggestions.

sara beth- Playing for Pizza is a short one. Its about American football in Italy. I enjoyed the Italy part :)

sara- that is ridiculous that they made you do it at 37 weeks! Isn't the whole point so to prevent complications during pregnancy and delivery? You were already full term! Crazy.

beth- good idea.

erin- narnia is on my list for this year anyway! I have the whole series....somewhere.....

lp- didn't you have a new dorothea benton frank book last time I saw you? Can I borrow it?

deb- that is a great idea. I have some cross stitching that I haven't picked up in a while. I just might take my little basket with me.

You think they would look at me strange if I showed up with my lap top? I wouldn't need internet because I could work on my second blog book that I haven't done yet! That might be weird. Eh- I might not care.

No kidding- I just found the Mark of the Lion series in a box I was going through that has been stored in Grant's room. Evidently Brenna let me borrow it but I haven't read it yet. I'm taking one next week!
