Target

So you go to Target to buy some needed items for the house. You get five items. The set of plastic drawers doesn't have a tag on it. The cashier asks you how much you thought it was. You think and err on the side of high and say, "$13.99." The cashier plugs something in and tells you your total. You think the total is kinda low but whatever. Later you look at your receipt. Two items that you bought (meaning were on the conveyor belt and then in your bag) were not even on the receipt. These two items together costs about $4. Another item you see was supposed to be $2.19 but it says tootsie rolls $0.10. And then you see the cashier plugged in the drawers as merchandise $10. Only one item actually rang up correctly.

What do you do?

Go back to Target and pay what you owe.

here's the only possible problem with that, you're gonna go back and they're going to get all confused and it's going to take them an hour to figure out what went wrong and then they'll probably tell you not to worry about it. but it's the right thing to do. you could call them and ask them what you should do. that would save you a trip. and maybe let them know that your cashier needs a little bit more training before they allow him/her back out there alone.

I agree that when you go back they will tell you not to worry about it. That happened once to me for a bathingsuite I bought Hannah. They didn't want to deal with it when I went back. Of course I feel like we are even anyway for the 2 MAJOR issues I have had with Target where they ripped me off! (my dad bought Hannah a $50 gift card that they didn't activate & I bought something online that came without tags and they wouldn't take it back. . .it's amazing I shop there anymore at all)

I've always heard that Target cashiers (as opposed to Wal-Mart cashiers) have the final decision on prices. That's why at Wal-Mart when there's no tag, everyone has to wait 10 minutes for some other employee to get the price tag, but at Target the cashier just asks you how much it was. (You may have already known all that! :) Anyway - sounds to me like the cashier made her own decisions on everything.

hmmmmph TARGET! THey have really been slacking lately in my book---and the holidays are not even here yet--seems to me that they need to have a holiday training session-oops sorry the retail in me is coming out!

have you ever tried to return anything to Target, even WITH a correct reciept? It's a nightmare. But it IS the right thing to do. I like the suggestion of calling first.

I would just call the manager or send a letter to the manager with a copy of the receipt. I wouldn't worry about whether you underpaid, but more that the cashier is screwing up a lot. I'd call or write because if you go back in person, they can waste your time.

On the topic of Target returns.. I have never had a problem and I think they're getting even better now. While it's somewhat disturbing, they can just use your credit card to see what you paid for, so you can lose your receipts now and still return things easily.
