So tonight we put on the girls pjs, wrapped them up in blankets, got hot chocolate for the over 4 crowd and drove around looking for Christmas lights! We live very close to the country so it wasn't hard to find lots of fun displays.
Observations from the girls
K: They are so, so beautiful.
S: Right there! Right there! (pointing to the stoplights and the CVS sign)
We sang Christmas songs and fawned over the lights. When we got home, we started reading the Polar Express which is one of my favorite Christmas stories.
I'd like to start some new traditions now that the girls are getting old enough to participate. Do you have any traditions that you have now or that you grew up doing? Liz has about 50 gazillion of them- she's chronicling them on her blog this year. I hope we can incorporate some new yet simple ones. I'm thinking I won't have much time for complex traditions next year with two ten month olds under foot. We are planning to head up to McAdenville this week- another Christmas treat I can participate in from the comfort of my passenger seat.

ok I just laughed out loud at sienna. :)
I love mcadenville, I hope we can make it this year when we're in charlotte after christmas.
I love the Polar Express too!
I think Jeremy almost broke off our engagement when we sat in line to see the McAdenville lights, after I kept assuring him that we were "almost to the lights." Turned out I was very wrong, when 4.5 hours later we were seeing the lights! I had to agree with him that they were not worth the wait (or the fight we had)! Ha!
Thanks for the shout out! :)
Both of your girls look so much older!! I'm glad you got to do something fun outside the house as a family of four! :)
If you lived closer, I would say to bring the girls to Bristol Motor Speedway in lights! We went there this year and it was so fun!
One of my favorite traditions growing up us making christmas cookies and decorating them. I still love doing that.
I'm with Jill. We'll meet you there.
Do you get to drive around the track? THAT would be sweet.

Yes Jonathan, you get to drive around the track and down the drag strip. There is a big Christmas "village" in the middle fo the track, too. Next year all 9 of us can meet there!!
